Click here to go to USATF's website for an explanation about the expectations on being an Association, National, or Master level certified USATF official

For those officials who would like to upgrade their current USATF status:
You must request in writing (or via e-mail) an upgrade in the events you want from Mica Barton, SWTFOA Certification Chair. Upgrades are discussed only at SWTFOA board meetings, which are scheduled quarterly, and the actual upgrades are only done once a year at the national office, usually at the end of July. Some of the criteria for upgrade is 1) willingness to work with the Youth and Master programs in the SWTFOA, 2) willingness to travel out of your geographical area to officiate, 3) attend a training meet as designated by the SWTFOA Training Director to receive training from qualified and experienced officials in our association (this criteria is in addition to the USATF expectations as outlined in the link above). To begin the process, please choose one of the following options:
To request via e-mail: click here to download an Excel file which you can fill out and e-mail to Mica Barton
To request via regular mail: click here to download a PDF file which you can fill out and mail to Mica Barton
A note to all officials requesting to be upgraded to a National or Master lever as a Starter:
The SWTFOA Board has decided at its January 2005 meeting that all officials requesting to be upgraded to a National or Master level Starter will need to provide a written recommendation from a Master level starter. A list of the Master level Starters in the SWTFOA will be provided soon.
